hey i got a debate topic "do you think we should allow same-sex marriages?"

state your opinion, tell me what you think!

i think same-sex marriage is wrong, i think that the federal amendment law should be passed, and no same sex marriages. this is a subject i feel strongly about, so lets debate! if u agree or disagree tell me, leave a comment.

Religion In Hardcore.
So today I was browsing the hardcore messagebards when I started to read about this controversy brewing about the band Most Precious Blood's new album cover.

Anywho, I read some of the statements the band has made about religion and hardcore.

Now, I am religious, yes. I know there are lots of kids in hardcore that aren't. That doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is when kids basically say, religion doesn't belong in hardcore, and you don't either. I understand if i'm coming up to you and screamong oh you're not with the lord, eat a dick and die or something, but i'm not.

I remember when I went to gainesville fest when that same band(most precious blood) tore up a bible and said somethng along the lines of, wheoever believes in this exit the building. I wasn't even all that religious back then, but that offended me, and not because of he reasons you might think.

the problem with kids and bands in hardcore having this anti christianity thing is not that they're anti christian, it's that they verbally persecute kids that aren't anti christian.

it made me really uncomfortable. I mean, kids were not only giving me shit for picking some of the pages up and throwing them away(which I did because I didn't want to slip while dancing), but people would actually come up to me and say you're wrong, get the fuck out of here.

it wouldn't bother me so much if it was just this once instance, but it isn't. Sometimes i'll be at a show, and a band will say something like fuck god and the kids that belive in him, and the crowd will agree, and I find me and a couple of other kids pretty much thinking, well what the hell did we ever do to you?

anywho, i just wanted to know your opinions on religion in hardcore. I personally believe that religion in hardcore isn't all that bad, it's when we get militant that problems start.

i think marijuana should be decriminalized. The USA has spent over 75 BILLION dollars of american tax money to keep the streets drug free. Not to mention the money spent on maintaning prison mates.

ok.this info is outdated but puts my point across...according to the federal bureau of prisons there were 31,346 people in jail in 1985. The largest group of offenders were those in for drug related charges, 9487 of them. If they werent in jail that would leave 26,472 people which would solve our over crowded situation in prisons. but thats not all...there were 7200 who are in for assault, burglary, larceny-theft, or robbery. Stastics show that 40% of those people were people stealing to support drug habits.

Legalization would allow our local security enforcers to focus on other situations and would unclog our judicial system. Oregon was the first state to legalize marijuana in the 60's and it allowed a larger budget for the police force.

Not only can marijuana help our economy but also our ecosystem. Hemp paper is alot easier to fabricate. It would take 4 acres of trees to be able to make as much paper that ONE acre of hemp could make.

There have been TWO major studies of marijuana funded by the USA. One was in the 30's when did they did not have sufficient techonology to conclude anything. Another was done in 1982. It was a 15 month study with 22 members in a comittee. They found that there are 421 chemicals in Marijuana. However, a majority of these chemicals can be found in most plants you see on the side of the road. The main active ingredient (delta-9 THC) causes pschoactive effects. heres what else they found:

"There is not yet any conclusive evidence as to whether prolonged use of marijuana causes permanent changes in the nervous system or sustained impairment of brain function and behavior in human beings".

"Cannabis and it's derivatives have shown promise in the treatment of a variety of disorders"

honestly...marijuana got its threatening image from movie directors in the 30's who depicted people smoking pot then going insane and killing each other which we all know is absurd but this became an accepted truth at the time. Then later on the accepted truth came to be that marijuana is a gateway drug. Surveys were done on college campus' around the USA and found that most heroin/cocain users have smoked pot a few times if at all.

If not for decriminilazation of marijuana at least drugs should be measured on their intensity. 400,000 people a year die from tobacco smoke inhalation. Yet...marijuana has been used for hundreds of years and there has yet to be a reported death of it.

okay, so i've been catching up on the news.

so there's this man who supposedly killed his wife. nothing has been proven yet. the wife was eight months pregant. on xmas eve he went fishing and she wound up missing. they found her a few days ago or something like that with her head cut off. then when her indentity was discovered, he was about to flee to mexico. he was arrested and brought up with charges of murder. the courts are arguing whether he should be charged with killing one or two people.when he supposedly killed her she was still pregnant. do you guys think he should be found guilty for killing his wife and child or they shouldn't count the baby as a human being since it is still considered a fetus?

Commentary by Ricky of Landmine Youth
Here are 7 reasons why I think South Florida's music scene lacks and will never be good... ever again.

Stop using the fucking term if you've never heard of Infest, Heresy, or Dropdead. Most South Florida kids who say they like grind don't even know who Assuck is and they were from Florida! Get a clue, no bands (including my own) play grind in South Florida... oh yeah, and you musclehead fucks, what the hell are you moshing to?

Besides being a lame name to classify music by, kids who think they're "screamo" in South Florida still probably don't even know where the term "emo-violence" came from (or what band rather). Not that punk rock should be a music name-game but fuck man, downloading every record that you say you "own" is not very punk rock to me... and yes, no bands in South Florida play screamo either (even if you think you do). And when screamo bands do play, why do you fucking mosh as if Hatebreed was playing? I don't understand what the fuck you are doing... these kids aren't playing emotional music for you to act tough to... it's meant to have fun to.

Pageninetynine is dead. That is sad. Mannequin are around now and Crestfallen are still rockin' so punk rock isn't completely dead... but it definitely feels dead when kids come to shows, get drunk, start fights, talk shit about eachother, break things, disrespect people's property, and act like thugs. South Florida really needs to get a fucking clue. Can you believe Reversal Of Man was from Florida? It sure doesn't feel like they ever were...

5.MOSH -
Even more lame.

As sad as it is, real hardcore has been replaced by tough mosh bullshit and really bad metal. No more finger pointing, stage diving, and singing along... now you need to worry about getting your head stepped on by some asshole or getting a fist in the face by some kids proving his toughness in the pit. To learn more about this, examine figures #4 and 5 above.

7.EMO -
The cool thing now is to start an emo band because a) you can be part of the scene and still look like a gap boy and be excused and b) you get chicks coming to your shows. Even the emo in South Florida are tough. Most of them also think the Used, Saves The Day, and Piebald are really good emo bands. Yeah.... riiight. Also, live journals are stupid, makeoutclub.com is stupid, and gossip, fashion and cute hair all belong in school. Fuck emo.

So anyways... I hope this either a) pisses you off, b) makes you realize how lame us South Florida kids really are, or c) makes you laugh. We fucking suck... save yourself and move away.
